Prerequisites- have walnuts! Because the movie is tougher to crack.
The most important question throughout the film was
Nimmi- Miyan, our love was pure, wasn't it ..?
Maqbool- yes our love was pure
Believe me Nimmi asks the hardest question here. How far is it to fall in love? Till what end is true love? What are the limits of love? Who is the bad one in the story?
Maqbool leaves me with a new definition of love. Which is pretty strange! It is deep. It is confusing and it is beyond......
Maqbool is a film based on the literary work "Macbeth" of Shakespeare. Maqbool truly holds the drama, tension and heavy work of storyline along. The starting 40 mins of the film was extremely heavy for me to absorb.
In the course of this film I revisited all the definitions of love that I have ever heard. Be it 'Everything is fair in love and war,' 'Love is a disease,' 'Love is above and beyond,' 'There is no limit to love,' etc. Believe me none of these definitions that I have been fed all my life apply to Maqbool one hundred percent.
This movie left me feeling absurd for the whole day. Irrfan's closing emotions had suffocated me with a plethora of emotions. Whether to cry on his state or disgust him because of his actions was an uneasy choice.
The storyline tied a knot in my gut, and left me feeling helpless. It was like drinking the world's best chai cold. And you couldn't complain about either.
Why should you watch Maqbool?
An excellent storyline that leaves you to ponder hard
The amazing expressions of the lead actors
The subtlety of the film location, making us feel home
A different love story
The story is written in such a way that it makes it tough to take sides
Even though I have an affinity for Irrfan I could not side with him to my heart's content. Something didn't feel right somehow.
Conclusion:
Maqbool leaves its viewers with unease. There is something wrong either in the way we have been seeing this or 'how great love is' has been taught to us.
