I liked how there were no details revealed about the film’s most interesting part In its trailer and song. Nor the album had any insights. It had just a glimpse of the sweet moments of Cpt. Batra’s life, instead of his dedicated on-duty scenes.

The lead has beautifully pulled out Cpt. Batra’s depiction before he joined the forces. Well, even though the other people I have asked say Vicky Kaushal would have been more apt choice for the movie. But I would argue that Cpt. Batra had a different built than Kaushal, Malhotra was an amazingly matched portrayal in looks as well as in the valour he depicted.

The visuals are amazingly done. And the audiences’ adrenaline rushes as the Army progresses in the war. The complex war strategies are explained in a layman manner. Hence secure the viewers’ attention throughout the film.

Dimple (played by Kiara Advani) never fails to make the audience heavy hearten as she mourns the death of her love.

I fact checked a lot of what was shown in the film and found the story was well narrated through the camera. The storyline is commendably written and has respected army and the noble profession throughout its depiction. It has a sense of realism and connects us to take pride in the true war heroes.

Why should you watch Shershaah?

  • It is a proud moment for every Indian to watch the story of a brave 25 year old martyr who won back Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan back in 1999.
  • The story-line is well told, and not dramatised for film-making than the real one.
  • Amazing Visuals of war
  • Hits differently to Army Personnel.

Where did the movie lacked?

Initially the film had all Punjabi dialogues for straight 2 minutes. And no supporting captions. It felt little off the hook for me, someone who is not a Punjabi.

There was no censor to the abusive words. For me it felt okayish as it brought out the deep engraved rage our soldiers beheld.

Conclusion

It is a must watch film. Shershaah can undoubtedly be included in our watch lists of patriotic films. Not a typical war movie that glorified our soldiers and tarnished other nations, but a truer depiction. Due respect paid while storytelling. A beautiful attempt to immortalise the efforts of our brave hearts. Remembering Captain. Vikram Batra…..
